- If (a) your mailbox fills up and stops receiving messages for an extended
- period of time, or (b) your particular machine name drops from DNS for
- whatever reason, or (c) your mailhost gateway reports you as not existing
- at the company, Listproc will boot you from the list.
-
- As I see every bounce from every list, I can tell you that this happens a
- lot (to the tune of about 50 messages per day). And, every OpenDoc list (39
- so far) live here, and the list does a ton of messages (the #1 load on
- cilabs.org) so list messages are sent out in parcels (which is why it
- always seems that most messages show up while you are asleep).
-
- And, on some rare occasions, sendmail takes a holiday without notifying
- anyone. I know it's dead because of the lack of bounces :(
-
- That being said (not making excuses, just explaining what I see from the
- 60,000 foot level), ODF-Interest has always been a problem child for some
- odd reason. I don't know if this is because it is a closed list or for some
- other reason.
-
- A new listproc is available (we're currently running 7.1) and I've
- indicated that we should upgrade, if possible. The only other alternative
- is to delete the list from existance, and recreate it, and readd all the
- users from scratch.
-
- I'm willing to do that, but there has been some reservations to doing this
- in the past.
-
- As always, feel free to notify me if you have a problem with the list, and
- I can check into it. Obviously, as listproc's only mechanism of
- notification is mail, and if you, for whatever reason, are dropped, it's
- because listproc figures it can't send you mail, so there are no ways to
- notify you that you are gone :(
