  16. period of time, or (b) your particular machine name drops from DNS for
  17. whatever reason, or (c) your mailhost gateway reports you as not existing
  18. at the company, Listproc will boot you from the list.

  20. As I see every bounce from every list, I can tell you that this happens a
  21. lot (to the tune of about 50 messages per day). And, every OpenDoc list (39
  22. so far) live here, and the list does a ton of messages (the #1 load on
  23. cilabs.org) so list messages are sent out in parcels (which is why it
  24. always seems that most messages show up while you are asleep).

  26. And, on some rare occasions, sendmail takes a holiday without notifying
  27. anyone. I know it's dead because of the lack of bounces :(

  29. That being said (not making excuses, just explaining what I see from the
  30. 60,000 foot level), ODF-Interest has always been a problem child for some
  31. odd reason. I don't know if this is because it is a closed list or for some
  32. other reason.

  34. A new listproc is available (we're currently running 7.1) and I've
  35. indicated that we should upgrade, if possible. The only other alternative
  36. is to delete the list from existance, and recreate it, and readd all the
  37. users from scratch.

  39. I'm willing to do that, but there has been some reservations to doing this
  40. in the past.

  42. As always, feel free to notify me if you have a problem with the list, and
  43. I can check into it. Obviously, as listproc's only mechanism of
  44. notification is mail, and if you, for whatever reason, are dropped, it's
  45. because listproc figures it can't send you mail, so there are no ways to
  46. notify you that you are gone :(
